NSW Health is the public health system of New South Wales, comprising over 230 public hospitals and more than 108,000 staff. To improve patient care, NSW Health initiated the Health Grade Enterprise Network (HGEN) project, aimed at transforming its IT infrastructure.

Key healthcare services—such as patient Wi-Fi, digital imaging for radiology, and critical clinical systems, including electronic medical records—are essential to delivering top-tier healthcare. These systems enhance the experiences of patients, families, and healthcare staff, and all rely on robust IT infrastructure for seamless operation.

The HGEN project is focused on consolidating and modernizing outdated infrastructure across Local Health Districts, encompassing a comprehensive IT upgrade, from cabling to wired and wireless networking, improving in-building coverage and capability.

Amalgamotion was engaged to develop the HGEN Transition Playbook, a comprehensive resource for Local Health Districts and other entities. This playbook serves as a complete reference guide for:

  • Meeting certification requirements
  • Transitioning to the new model
  • Managing related HR activities

By compiling all project artefacts and deliverables into a centralized, well-organized repository, Amalgamotion’s playbook streamlines the certification and transition processes with clear taxonomy, structured document management, and standardized naming conventions.
